Boxtree have been appointed to introduce a Head of Underwriting. This is rare opportunity to join an established, specialist lender in London as a Head of Underwriting. This is the first senior hire in the Underwriting team and in terms of progression, this role would replace the directors of the business who have typically been the top of the tree in terms of credit committee and technical referral point.  There are several things that make us very excited about this opportunity but the stand-out parts that we hope grab your attention are: –

  • Managing a team of underwriters
  • Recruitment and training of underwriters
  • Working with the board to form strategy and direction of business activities
  • Act a technical referral point and become a key member of the credit committee
  • Continually seek to improve underwriting processes
  • Take a lead role in the assessing complex cases and ascertaining their suitability

Required experience:

Excellent knowledge of the bridging / STL lending market gained from an alternative lender.

An open mind towards risk with experience of making complex lending decisions in the alternative finance space
